Two cool flight planning tools you didn't know about

We're a big fan of useful travel tools, so we thought we'd share two very cool websites that can help you plan and book your flights online.

The first is Adioso.com - a cheap fare search engine that hunts down cheap fares across many airlines world-wide. What sets Adioso apart from similar sites is that they allow you to do natural language searches, such as "Sydney to overseas for less than $400" or "San Francisco to anywhere for less than $200". If you've ever been backpacking in some far-flung region of the world and wanted to know where you could with your budget, Adioso makes this task a breeze. You can follow the two founders of Adioso (based in Melbourne) Fenn and Tom on Twitter.

The next website, Flightmapper.net, is a really novel flight mapping tool that maps the airline routes between two locations. Do you want to fly from Costa Rica to Argentina? Simply click on the two countries on the map, and Flightmapper will display the local airports and airlines that fly between those routes. If you've ever tried to book a flight between two overseas countries that you aren't familiar with, you'll know how much time flightmapper can save you! The website was developed by avid couchsurfer and computer science Ph.D student Niko Kotilainen, who launched the project a few years ago.
